Installation with VMware Workstation Player

This chapter is intended to outline the steps required to install the Business Bot Platform within VMware Workstation Player.

The following steps must be performed:

  1. Go to the Citunius Service Portal, click on VMware and download the file BBP.<Edition>.<Release>-<Fixpack>.ova.

  2. Now download the VMware Workstation Player. Why? The virtual machine with the Business Bot Platform runs natively on Linux. Since you want to use the VM under Windows, you need the virtualization software for Windows. VMware Workstation Player is a virtualization software that does the work of completing your installation. The link will take you to the VMware website. Here you can download the virtualization software VMware Workstation Player.

  3. Click Download Now under VMware Workstation Player for Windows 64-bit.

  4. Run setup wizard for VMware Workstation.

  5. Open VMware Workstation Player from your desktop.

  6. Click on PlayerFileOpen.

  7. Click on the OVA file from your downloads folder.

  8. Name your virtual machine whatever you like and click Import.

  9. The OVA file will begin importing.

  10. Click on Play virtual machine, this will boot the VM with the Business Bot Platform.

  11. You’ll see the player turn to black and begin loading at the bottom.

  12. The final step in VMware Workstation Player is to login. You’ll see the login credentials highlighted here.

  13. Click in the window and type root for the login. Press ENTER on your keyboard. Keep in mind, when in the VMware Workstation Player your mouse will not be visible. To release your mouse, hold down CTRL + ALT. Your mouse will then become available to you. To type back in VMware Workstation Player, you will first have to click the window.

  14. Type bbppass for the password. When typing you will not see the characters show up. When finished, press ENTER on your keyboard.

  15. The following screen will show up. It is important to note that your IP address will be different. Make sure you use the IP address shown in your VMware Workstation Player.

  16. Open your preferred web browser. You’ll see Google Chrome here. This is where you would type in your specific IP address (found in VMware Workstation Player, just below the Business Bot Platform banner). For example, the web address is https://192.168.1.1:8443/bbp/admin/, don’t forget the port. Once you have entered the IP address in the search bar, press ENTER on your keyboard. The browser will inform you that the connection is encrypted but the certificate cannot be verified, click on Advanced and then Continue to ... (insecure).

  17. You’re now able to access the Business Bot Platform. Click the button to configure General platform settings.

  18. In the next step it is necessary to perform the web setup of the Business Bot Platform. Therefore, follow chapter Web Setup of the Platform.

  19. Congratulations! You have successfully installed the Business Bot Platform. Here you’ll see your login information. It will be different than you see here, depending on the configurations you made on the previous screen. It is important that you know your username and password intimately before clicking Login. You will be prompted to log in on the following page. Insert your login credentials from the previous page (WebSetup) into the login box. The default language for the Business Bot Platform is English. If you speak another language, it will benefit you to choose that language on this page as well. Click Login.

  20. You now have access to the Dashboard of the Business Bot Platform. That’s it! You have successfully installed the Business Bot Platform and can now start adding or creating chatbots. There are some great videos and resources to help you get started with the Business Bot Platform.
